About

Behind Courons Gatineau is Gatineau Loppet, a non-profit organization well-known in Canada and around the world. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2028, the Gatineau Loppet is Canada’s largest cross-country ski event. The Gatineau Loppet is part of the prestigious Worldloppet circuit, which includes the 19 biggest popular cross-country ski races in the world. The event attracts some 2,500 skiers from some 20 countries. The organization has a 15-member Board of Directors. A separate committee (see below) is responsible for organizing Courons Gatineau.

Vision

Launched in 2024, Courons Gatineau aims to be the biggest running event in Gatineau, and to rank among the top 10 running events in Quebec by its 5th edition in 2028. In the medium term, a half-marathon event would be added to the 2, 5 and 10 km events. In the longer term, who knows, a marathon?

Values

Courons Gatineau encourages Gatineau and area residents to stay active. The event, which takes place on the banks of the Gatineau and Outaouais rivers, aims to draw attention to the protection and enhancement of our rivers. See our sustainability measures.

Visual Identity

The Courons Gatineau logo is made up of three elements. The blue shape at the top represents the Ottawa River, while the blue shape at the bottom represents the Gatineau River. The sinuous orange line represents the Courons Gatineau courses, which follow the colorful riverbanks at the start of Fall Rhapsody. Together, they form a running shoe. Trinergie is the firm behind Courons Gatineau’s visual identity.

Organizing committee

A small team of enthusiastic volunteers has already been busy preparing the event for several months, and we still have a few positions to fill. Want to lend us a hand? Contact us!
